Parents and Caregivers
Family Health Resource Center (Library)
The Family Health Resource Center at the Hassenfeld Center is a
resource center and consumer health library for patients and families
of the Hassenfeld Center.
Medical and Health Literature Resources
Parents, caregivers, family members, and patients may use our Resource
Center (Library) to meet with our librarian or to access quality health
information.
Nutritional Consultations
The Hassenfeld care team works to provide support to patients and
families to answer nutrition questions and to provide resources that
help all families make healthy food choices together during treatment
and after.
Pastoral Care
Our Chaplains, who are of various denominations, have experience in working with faith in the context of illness.
Parents' Coffee Talk
Hassenfeld hosts a weekly Coffee Talk for parents and caregivers. This
is a casual, unstructured time when parents, adult family members, and
caregivers can take a break from the clinic and talk together while
enjoying coffee and pastries.
Patient Advocate
Hassenfeld’s Patient Advocate works as a liaison between families and
the patient’s care team. The Patient Advocate is available to meet with
parents and caregivers to talk and to provide encouragement for parents
during challenging times.
Psychology Services
Our pediatric clinical psychologist provides direct and consultative
services to patients and families including psychological screenings,
neuropsychological testing, and behavioral interventions for specific
difficulties.
Survivorship Programming
Today there are over 270,000 survivors of childhood cancer, and it is
estimated that by the year 2010 one in every 250 young adults will be a
survivor of childhood cancer. In order to meet the needs of this
growing population, Hassenfeld has developed an interdisciplinary
Survivorship Program that addresses the special needs of childhood
cancer, leukemia, and blood disorder survivors.
Wellness Services
The Family Wellness Program at Hassenfeld enhances treatment by
responding to the needs of the whole person in the family context
through mind, body and spirit.
