Research and Clinical Trials

Clinical Trials and ResearchHassenfeld is dedicated to finding new ways to prevent and treat cancer.

One way we do this is by participating in clinical trials research. A clinical trial is a study that includes patients with cancer and is used so we can come up with new treatments.

Every study is different and they answer different scientific questions. Hassenfeld’s researchers use these studies to come up with new ways to help treat cancer patients and to find out if a new treatment is safe and effective for patients.

Being involved in a clinical trial can help everybody because they answer important scientific questions and help us to plan future research directions.

It also can help the patients because they get up-to-date care from cancer experts.

Joining a clinical trial has possible benefits and it also has risks and there is no guarantee that the treatment will produce good results.

If you decide to be a part of a clinical trial, you will work closely with doctors, nurses and other health professionals that are apart of your treatment team.

This team will closely follow your progress while you are on treatment and after treatment has ended.

You may have more tests and visits than you normally would and you may also have more responsibilities such as filling out extra forms about your health.

Even if your treatment is over you may have to continue to come in for follow up.
